Story Hour Midvale Communtiy Library offers a monthly Story Hour at 4 pm on the THIRD THURSDAY of every month from September to May. During the summer months Story Hour is held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. More about Story Hour.

Family Reading Event Midvale Community Library celebrates Family Reading on the third Thursday in November at 4:00 p.m., in conjunction with Third Thursday Story Hour. We invite children of all ages, parents, guardians and grandparents to come hear (or tell) a story, have some refreshments, do a craft and learn more about reading and the other services provided by the library.

Why do we celebrate Family Reading?  Telling or reading a story to
young children helps them to understand what they read, helps them know
the names and sounds of letters and how to say words, makes them
comfortable with books and the printed language, and enlarges their
vocabulary.  Studies show that sharing books with babies and youngsters
builds their brain power, helps them learn language, prepares them to
be readers and creates a special time together.  Midvale Community
Library has hundreds of books for children, including board books,
picture books and books for early readers and beyond.  More about Family Reading Event

Summer Reading Program Our Summer Reading Program begins the first full week after classes at Midvale Elementary School end for the summer, and continues for eight weeks. Summer Reading is brought to you in part by Read To Me, a service of the Idaho Commission for Libraries. More about Summer Reading Program
